The Art of Life
24 January, Saturday 20:00
Based on Wilfried Happel’s ten-titled play
The inner dialogue unfolding in the human mind—the struggle with oneself—is a decisive path toward overcoming suicidal intent and continuing the fight for existence. Deep loneliness and isolation, within an alienated and manipulated reality, can lead a person to a sense of life’s meaninglessness, from which suicide may appear as one possible escape.
A man, like a woman, experiences profound loneliness. For him, creating a play and allowing a woman into his life is not only an ambition as a playwright, but also a desperate attempt to fill his own existential void and escape solitude. The woman becomes for him not merely an object to be saved, but a field of projection—someone through whom the man seeks to find the meaning of existence.
The performance was staged within the framework of Ilia State University’s master’s program “The Art of Living Theatre: Staging and Acting.”
